Overview & Highlights

If you find yourself in Berlin and yearning for an authentic taste of Japan, look no further than Cocolo Ramen. Nestled on Gipsstraße 3, this charming ramen restaurant transports diners directly to the heart of Tokyo with its rich, flavorful offerings and warm atmosphere. The star of the show is undoubtedly the ramen, with each bowl crafted to perfection, inviting you to savor every slurp.

Start your culinary journey with their renowned tonkotsu ramen, known for its creamy, rich broth that envelops perfectly cooked noodles, complemented by tender slices of pork belly. For a twist on tradition, try the TanTan ramen—a spicy delight that packs a punch and is often recommended with an extra egg to enhance the creamy texture. And don’t overlook their sides; the gyoza is a favorite for a reason, delivering crunch and savory goodness in every bite.

The aromas wafting through the cozy dining area are as captivating as the dishes themselves, creating an atmosphere that feels both intimate and inviting. With a compact interior that reflects the essence of authentic Japanese izakayas, every table feels like a special spot. Whether you choose to dine inside or brave the elements at one of the outdoor tables, you’ll be treated to attentive, friendly service that makes each visit feel like a warm embrace.

Many patrons rave about the hospitality at Cocolo Ramen. Customer Gianmarco Scardino recalls, “Best ramen I’ve ever had,” praising both the food and the kind-hearted service. Similarly, Angela Millen shares her delightful experience of dining in a bit of rain, highlighting the staff's quick response with towels, a true testament to their commitment to guest satisfaction. Customers often leave feeling satisfied not just by their meal, but by the genuine care shown by the entire team.

The authenticity is palpable—Igor Kudryk expresses that Cocolo Ramen offers "the most Japanese experience possible in Germany." This diligence to maintain the spirit of Japanese dining is what sets them apart. As you indulge in your meal, you'll likely find your senses heightened by the lively sounds around you, the clinking of bowls, and the sweet hum of satisfied diners filling the air.

Make sure to plan your visit accordingly; there's often a queue, a clear indicator of Cocolo Ramen's popularity. But rest assured, any wait will be worth it, as echoed by Laoganma, who asserts that the ramen is indeed “incredible and worth the hype.” Come ready to experience a cultural culinary adventure that will leave you counting down the days until your next visit.

In a city bustling with diverse dining options, Cocolo Ramen stands out, promising not just a meal, but an experience to remember. So gather your friends or embark on a solo culinary quest—Cocolo Ramen awaits to delight your palate!

Best ramen I've ever had. We were here in 2022 for the first time and I finally came back 3 years later. The taste was exactly as good as I remembered. Also very nice and kind service!

We got here before 6pm and there was a queue outside so we were curious ourselves! My friend and I sat outside while the weather was on and off rain, but the atmosphere was perfect as we had cover over our tables. There was one point the rain leaned near the edge of the table and the staff came straight away with towels. A very hospitable place. We ordered gyoza, tonkotsu + shoyu ramen, mochi (sesame + vanilla) and home limonade. It was SOOOO yummy!! Very similar taste to homemade stuff in Japan ~ the broth was creamy not too salty or fatty and the pork belly was really gooood. The mochi was fluffy and fresh too 10/10

Cocolo Ramen – A Slurp of Japan in the Heart of Berlin If you’re craving a taste of Tokyo without leaving Berlin, Cocolo Ramen delivers the goods—bold, flavorful, and full of soul. I had the TanTan Ramen, and here’s a pro tip: ask for it extra spicy and definitely add the extra egg. Creamy, rich, and with a subtle kick, it’s the kind of bowl that demands your full attention. Paired it with Kakuni—tender, sweet pork belly that basically melts on contact—and washed it all down with an ice-cold Kirin beer for the full Japanese experience. What truly elevated the visit was the counter seating. Sitting solo, right near the open kitchen, watching the crew work with focus and rhythm—it felt like a brief return to Japan. The location is easy to find, and the vibe strikes a perfect balance between casual and authentic. Final verdict: Cocolo isn't just a ramen shop—it's a little slice of Japan in Berlin. Come hungry, sit at the counter, and let the steam and flavor do the rest.

We had to wait for about 15-20 minutes, but it was all worth it. Most authentic Japanese experience I’ve ever had. The place is small, but it adds some charm to it. They also have places outside, but since it was pretty cold, we waited for a seat inside. The staff was very friendly. All in all, the ramen was incredible and worth the hype. Highly recommend.

VERY authentic place. We had probably the most Japanese experience that is possible in Germany. The best part are people who are working there. They are very friendly and I liked the atmosphere a lot.

Yes, it’s everything everyone says about it. It is truly amazing. The flavour and textures, one of my favorites in this city. The staff was also really lovely. Can definitely recommend the ramen with pork belly, it’s just perfect (we arrived by the time it was opening, so we got a table without waiting so long).

Everyone was professional, and even the seating was handled kindly and cleverly, arranging the tables perfectly. Then the real magic happens inside: humble, incredibly kind waiters, wonderful dishes, and we stayed until closing without receiving a single bad look. A 100% recommendation!
